Hasanat (حَسَنَات) are "good deeds" rewarded by Allah. The Qur'an promises that every good deed is multiplied.
مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا
"Whoever brings a good deed, for them is ten times the like thereof."
— Qur'an 6:160
A single fard prayer offered sincerely is a complete good deed. Scholars consider 10 hasanat per prayer a conservative baseline based on this verse. Praying in congregation, as narrated:
"Prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times superior to the prayer offered alone."
— Sahih al-Bukhari 645
This counter is a motivational tool, not an accounting of your reward. Allah's generosity far exceeds any number. Only He knows what is accepted from us.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, let him pray it when he remembers." (Bukhari & Muslim)
A missed prayer (Qada) should be offered as soon as possible — don't wait for the next prayer time. Pray the full obligatory rakats just as you would have at the original time.
After praying, turn to Allah with a sincere heart. Admit the lapse, resolve not to repeat it, and ask for forgiveness. Allah's mercy is vast.
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Astaghfirullāhal-ʿAẓīm, alladhī lā ilāha illā huwa, al-Ḥayyul-Qayyūm, wa atūbu ilayh.
"I seek forgiveness from Allah the Mighty, whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him."
Allah says in the Qur'an: "Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins." (Qur'an 39:53)
Missing a prayer is a setback, not a defeat. Return to consistency — that return is itself a form of worship.
Note: If you miss many prayers, scholars differ on the order and method of making them up. Consult a knowledgeable scholar for your specific situation.
